Hello! My name is Janet Velasco, and I am excited to join Wings of the Future as an Outpatient Therapist. I earned my Master of Science in Counseling with a specialization in Rehabilitation from California State University, Los Angeles, and I am a registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in California.
My journey into therapy comes from a deep faith that every individual possesses an essential capacity for healing and personal growth. What inspires me to continue work each day is the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate their own life challenges, discover their strengths, and their want to build meaningful lives.
In my clinical practice, I utilize a person-centered approach that prioritizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and a strong therapeutic alliance. I believe that we as individuals are the experts of our own life, and my role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where feelings are genuinely heard.
My philosophy is rooted in meeting others exactly where you are. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process; it is a collaborative partnership planned around our unique story, values, and goals.
When I’m not in the therapy room, I am usually spending quality time outdoors, which helps benefit my self-care during my morning and evening walks, watching sunrises and sunsets; in this time, my mind, spirit, and body all get fed with the elements of nature. I look forward to welcoming you and supporting you on your path toward healing and fulfillment!
